Call Congress: Reject the Deadly U.S.-Israel Military Merger
Both the House and Senate versions of the FY27 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) contain a disastrous Netanyahu-backed proposal aiming to merge the U.S. and Israel’s military surveillance and tech apparatuses, dubbed "The Deadly Merger."
The next stop for the NDAA––and the dangerous policies within it––is the House floor, where a vote is expected in the next few days. The Senate's floor vote will follow shortly after. It's an all-hands-on-deck moment leading up to the floor votes: every member of the House and Senate needs to hear from constituents about shutting down The Deadly Merger provision and voting down the entire NDAA.
Championed by AIPAC and Prime Minister Netanyahu himself, the proposed U.S.-Israel military tech merger would move U.S. support for Israel away from the traditional framework of military funding packages that require Congressional oversight into a shadowy maze of Pentagon procurement, licensing, and backdoor deals that are harder for lawmakers, taxpayers, and future administrations to track and regulate. If passed, the initiative will fuel Israeli corporations' use of Palestinians as lab rats for their latest tools of death and destruction, and increase surveillance and targeting of activists by U.S./Israeli intelligence agencies.
The pressure you're applying on this issue is already having a huge impact in Congress. Staffers are reporting an enormous volume of calls opposing The Deadly Merger––in the case of House Rep Adam Smith, constituent pressure even forced him to publicly flip his position on The Deadly Merger provision. Lawmakers Ro Khanna, Thomas Massie, Rashida Tlaib and Bernie Sanders have also vowed to continue fighting the provision as the NDAA advances in the House and Senate.
This is the moment to get even louder about your opposition to this proposal. Call your representatives in the House and Senate to demand they reject any measures aiming to merge the U.S. and Israel's military tech infrastructure, and vote down the entire NDAA in the floor vote. Lawmakers need to push to re-direct public funding towards community services like healthcare and housing––not genocidal wars and bloated Pentagon budgets.
